About the event
The Black Canadian Civil Society Coalition (BCCSC), in collaboration with Amnesty International Canada, will host the UN Permanent Forum for People of African Descent (PFPAD) consultations in Canada. This national initiative will centre Black Canadian voices in shaping the UN Declaration on the Promotion, Protection and Full Respect of the Human Rights of People of African Descent while building towards a long-overdue Recognition Framework in Canada. In alignment with General Assembly resolutions 75/314 and 76/226, the UN Permanent Forum for People of African Descent (PFPAD), we aim to contribute to the drafting of the United Nations Declaration on the human rights of people of African descent. As part of this mandate, the Forum will conduct a series of regional consultations to ensure the voices of people of African descent, including those from marginalized communities, are reflected in the declaration.
